Description
PS-1 is a highly regulated 24 VDC, 2 Amp (continuous) power supply capable of supplying up to 66 BP-1 beltpacks with all signal lights constantly lit. It may be rack mounted or used as a table-top unit, when fitted with its optional plain side panels and plastic feet.
The PS-1 may be used alone to power a single-circuit system, or it may be combined with our MSM-1 to form what is commonly referred to as a Main or Master Station. The toroidal transformer used in the PS-1 provides greater efficiency, lower hum, and reduced strayfield radiation compared with conventional types, and allows the single rack unit configuration. The regulator IC also provides protection against overloads and short circuits. In the event of a protective shut-down, turning the main AC switch off and back on, after removing the short, will restore power to the system.
For the sake of economy and simplicity, the PS-1 has only one 3-pin XLR type connector on the rear panel. For more complex systems we recommend that you consider the PS-2.
That unit has the same cabinet and main componentry as the PS-1, but also has 3 XLR type outlets, front panel switches to connect and disconnect the three circuits, and LED signal indicators for two of the circuits.
